This project was developed as the cover art for St James Park debut album, “Highlight”. St James Park is the solo project of Tiago Sampaio, a portuguese musician who’s also the guitarist for the band Grandfather’s House and has collaborated with names such as TOKiMONSTA and Holly.

The concept behind the artwork is intimately linked with all the subjects touched in the album: loneliness, the everchanging nature of our moods, egomania, pessimism, optimism, just to name a few. Each symbol represented on the cover is like a token of those feelings and moments, and the tears and textures aim to convey the idea of breakthrough, which takes a lot of self-reflection but also a lot of frustration and anxiety. Finally, the main cross at the centre of the work represents the artist and how he has to make all the necessary sacrifices to overcome whatever may come his way, including himself.

Pedro Pereira developed the artwork for the cover album and cassette packaging under the creative guidance of Francisco Quintas.
